National Geographic Venture spent its second full day in the Gulf of California exploring the area around Isla San Jose. Breakfast was cut short when expedition leader John Mitchell spotted a blue whale in the middle of the San Jose Channel. After everyone got looks at the beautiful creature, the ship anchored off the coast of the island. The brave souls who took the opportunity to snorkel in the Encantada Bay were rewarded with some brisk water and sightings of fish and sea stars.
