The morning saw us continuing our journey east on the Columbia River. After breakfast, we enjoyed a presentation about the fascinating geology of the Pacific Northwest, courtesy of Naturalist Jeff. Shortly thereafter we were treated to a presentation by Ray Isle, our special guest speaker and the executive wine editor of Food & Wine.
We arrived at Crow Butte Island shortly before lunch and spent the afternoon ashore in this striking sagebrush ecosystem. After our photo, aerobic, and interpretive hikes concluded, we had hot chocolate in the park and a Q&A with our cultural specialist staff members, Eric and Brad, about the production of food and wine in the region.
When we returned to the ship, Ray Isle treated us to a thoughtful wine tasting from local makers, in addition to a locally sourced charcuterie spread.
Here’s to another amazing (and delicious!) day on our Columbia and Snake River journey!
