The sunshine continued today as we made our first stop in Ireland. It was a beautiful morning as we approached the port town of Cobh during breakfast and prepared to dock alongside the famous Titanic Heritage Centre. Guests enjoyed a walk around the picturesque town, taking in views of the towering cathedral before exploring the Heritage Centre.

Instead of taking a tour of the town, many guests enjoyed a trip to Fota Gardens and Harper’s Island for an exciting and informative nature walk. Led by local guide Jim Wilson, we were treated to the story behind establishing Harper’s Island Nature Reserve and how the local community has been involved in the project.

After another delicious lunch, we headed up to the local Gaelic Athletic Association field to watch a demonstration of hurling, an Irish sport. This was followed by an excellent performance of Irish traditional folk music from a local band. Many of us tasted the local brews while witnessing the traditional sport and music.

Back on board, we enjoyed the evening light shining over the town of Cobh as we set sail again and made our way to our next destination in Ireland.
