Today we had beautiful weather and enjoyed the great privilege of exploring more of the many tributaries that form the gigantic and diverse ecosystem that is the Amazon River.
After a wonderful breakfast, we explored Clavero Lake. Clavero Lake was created by the river meandering through the flat lowlands and eventually finding a new path, leaving behind the lake. The formation of a new lake is a process and like many times before, it will also eventually completely disappear under the enormous accumulation of silt that the river carries from higher ground.
It is truly amazing and hard to grasp the sheer size of this river and the diversity of the many different forms of life it has created. Every time we go out in our skiffs, we feel overwhelmed and grateful for being able to visit such an incredible place.
