Last night we left the southern realm of Santa Cruz Island and navigated to the northern region of the same island. We arrived early this morning and after breakfast, we boarded our Zodiacs and headed ashore to explore Cerro Dragon. At this site we found several Galapagos land iguanas, Galapagos mockingbirds, and Darwin finches. We also snorkeled and swam from Zodiacs and from a nearby beach, and had a great time observing marine life.
After lunch, we went to Eden Islet and had a great sunny afternoon. Around the area, some of our guests went kayaking, paddle-boarding or exploring the coast from our Zodiacs. In the late afternoon, we had a navigation to observe Daphne Major Islet; for many years, this has been a very important study site on Darwin Finches by Peter and Rosemary Grant. At the end of the day, we had an outstanding sunset.
