Our first day in the Peruvian Amazon couldn’t be any better. Right after breakfast we all got our rubber boots ready for our morning experience, a hike into the Casual trails, a place full of surprises and natural wonders.
Just a few meters after our starting point, the “Jungle” gave us a warm welcome showing us some of its habitants, two-toed sloth and a couple of lizards were in charge of reminding us that we were walking at one of the most amazing rainforests in the world. As we kept walking butterflies were flying everywhere, the trees kept us fresh under their shade and more animals started to literally “appear.” This time it was a gorgeous red-tailed boa and some poison-dart frogs.
The day was not complete without a skiff ride and this time we got the chance to find the famous pink and gray dolphins, also many species of birds such herons, hawks, oropendolas, caracaras and many others that made the afternoon wonderful. On the way back, and before a gorgeous sunset, a troop of squirrel monkeys showed up, hunting and jumping everywhere.
The time flies by when you are having such great day! Suddenly it was time for all us to go back “home” to keep navigating and looking for a new adventure.
