We started our day early morning with the sunrise. Our guests met our team of naturalists on the deck to disembark to Bartolome Island. This is one of the most iconic and well-known islands in the Galapagos archipelago. We had our morning workout, walking the 374 steps that lead to the peak of this small but good-looking island. Once there, we enjoyed one of the most famous and breathtaking views in all of the Galapagos. On our way back, we could not miss the opportunity to go on a short Zodiac ride in search of penguins! We found the cutest and fuzziest penguin of all, a young penguin warming up in the morning sun.

All guests and the expedition team returned to the ship to enjoy a full and wonderful breakfast. This was followed by a nice and relaxing time at the beach. Some guests got adventurous with a deep water snorkeling. Some of us got to swim with the only penguins living on the equator.

After a well-deserved nap and one more delicious lunch, our Global Explorers participated in the Fashion a Fish activity. They created the most fun and unique species of fish!

In the afternoon, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to snorkel in the clear and rich waters of Chinese Hat. We found penguins, sharks, rays, and an incredible variety of colorful fish. Those guests who didn’t feel like getting wet again had the opportunity to go for a Zodiac ride. We spent the rest of the afternoon admiring and photographing six good-looking penguins who had just come back from their fishing activities. If that wasn’t enough, we spent time looking at sea lions. We observed a mother and baby finding each other after the mother returned from fishing, probably after several days. Nobody has ever taken enough pictures of a sea lion. For sure, we can never have enough pictures of them.
