Early this morning, we disembarked at Bartolome beach for a stretching session with our wellness specialist while enjoying the sunrise colors. After breakfast, we started our walk to the top of Bartolome Islet, one of the most famous landscapes of the Galapagos Islands. Bartolome is an incredible site for geologists, since here you can find spotter cones, scoria, and tuff formations. Our Global Explorers spent the morning swimming and snorkeling from the beach, spotting baby stingrays, blue-chin parrotfish and rainbow fish. We also had the glass-bottom boat available for our guests who preferred to enjoy the Galapagos underwater life with interpretation from our naturalists. While they saw it from above, we were deep water snorkeling in warm waters with penguins—this may be the only place on the planet where we can spend more than one-hour swimming with penguins.
While we navigated to Chinese hat, we had a delicious Mexican lunch, followed by "fashion a fish," an activity for our Global Explorers, a fun way to learn adaptation and evolution. We also had a lecture about Charles Darwin’s life and theory by our naturalist Anahi. In the afternoon, we headed out for a second deep-water snorkeling activity at Sombrero Chino Islet. In these turquoise waters, we spotted more penguins, white-tipped reef sharks, and lots of colorful fish. We also had the opportunity to take out kayaks and Zodiacs to explore the coast of these wonderful islands. What an amazing day in paradise!
