As we began our journey in the Galapagos Islands aboard National Geographic Islander II, we started the engine with approximately three hours to head towards Bartolomé, an iconic and famous island. Here, we started the day very early with a walk or Zodiac ride to explore the island's geological structures and pioneer vegetation.
After a 30-minute walk up 372 stairs, we witnessed an iconic view of the Galápagos, as seen in the movie, "Master and Commander”. We concluded the morning with an underwater exploration of Bartolomé Island’s marine life.
In the afternoon, we traveled for an hour and forty minutes to the western side of Santa Cruz Island to visit Cerro Dragón, also known as Dragon Hill, named after the endemic Galapagos land iguana. Our final outing included a walk through a dry forest to observe the iconic iguanas and various endemic species. Guests also enjoyed a Zodiac ride accompanied by a beautiful sunset.
