National Geographic Resolution spent Christmas Eve sailing through the Drake Passage on its way to the South Shetland Islands at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. It was a mild crossing with waves no bigger than four meters. Everyone passed the time with educational lectures, gear decontamination, and watching for wildlife from the bridge. Several species of seabirds soared above the wave tops, passing in and out of snow flurries. All day, guests were treated to delicious meals and decadent snacks. What a day!
