Photographing birds is one of the most difficult things to do with a camera. The trajectory of the animals combined with the movement of the ship makes it very challenging. One must keep trying and may succeed if one perseveres through hundreds of bad images…and the cold weather. Today we had many beautiful birds following the ship, and we had several opportunities to try to photograph them.

During this day sailing towards our first destination in Antarctica, we had time to enjoy the ship and enjoyed presentations by National Geographic Photographer Nick Cobbing, as well as our visiting scientists Siobhan Rose Vye and Alessandro Ponzo.

During our daily recap, Captain Oliver Krüß explained to our guests the technology and design of National Geographic Endurance and what makes it the perfect expedition ship.
