Today was the first full day of our expedition, and it will take three days to sail to South Georgia. We spent this day at sea getting acquainted with National Geographic Endurance and preparing for the adventure ahead.
Eduardo Shaw gave a talk on seabirds, explaining how to spot species like albatrosses and petrels. We also had two photography presentations. National Geographic Photographer Nick Cobbing spoke about how to tell stories with our photos. Then, Alex Searle gave useful tips on using our phones to take better pictures.
In the evening, we attended the captain's welcome cocktail gathering hosted by Captain Oliver Kruess. It was a great way to meet more people on board and hear about what lies ahead.
As we sail on, we’re getting ready for the experiences that await us in South Georgia.
