After two wonderful days exploring the wildlife-rich islands of the Falklands Archipelago, we had our first day at sea. It was a chance to catch up on editing the hundreds of photos taken while in the Falklands. Throughout the day there were various interesting presentations. We learned more about the Falklands from an Argentine perspective from Gabriela Roldan. Our Global Perspectives guest speaker Alasdir McGregor is the official biographer of Frank Hurley, and he gave his first insights into Hurley’s fascinating career. We also had a chance to gain insight and tips from National Geographic photographer Sisse Brimberg.
A day at sea is also a great chance to prepare for our next great adventure in South Georgia. On this expedition we are fortunate enough to have National Geographic Fellow Corry Jaskolki and his team aboard with a special 360 degree camera drone. They spent time working out some technical details and there was a chance to see the drone close up. We look forward to seeing what this exciting new technology can show us during the trip. All and all this was a relaxed and productive day at sea.
