NEW YORK (JANUARY 4, 2007) – Exciting expeditions to exotic destinations across the globe are scheduled throughout 2007 aboard 110-guest National Geographic Endeavour, the flagship of the Lindblad Expeditions (LEX) fleet and symbol of the LEX - National Geographic Society (NGS) strategic alliance. Beginning with a spring transatlantic journey tothe volcanic islands of the Atlantic Ridge chain, National Geographic Endeavour will carry exploration-minded guests to remote and pristine regions across the globe in 2007, from the Svalbard archipelago near the Arctic Circle to the Antarctic Peninsula.
National Geographic Endeavour will embark on 20 exploratory journeys ranging from 11 to 38 days in 2007, exploring diverse regions such as Scandinavia and the Baltics, Scotland, Britain and Ireland, Arctic Svalbard, the Mediterranean, Dalmatian Coast and Antarctica. Pre and post-voyage extensions to Easter Island, Torres del Paine National Park, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Athens and Crete are also available.
Through the alliance, guests enjoy access to even more talented scientists, naturalists and historians, as National Geographic experts join LEX’s seasoned field teams to provide expertinsight into the regions visited. National Geographic Endeavour utilizes state-of-the-art exploration and observation tools, including Zodiac landing craft, kayaks, hydrophones, video microscopes, “splash cams” and underwater video cameras, to help guests become engaged explorers.
National Geographic Endeavour’s 2007 schedule features the following expeditions:
- Scandinavia & The Baltics: A 16-day journey through eight countries united by the Baltic Sea. Sailing from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg, Russia, the voyage visits Lubeck, Germany; Christianso & Bornholm Islands, Denmark; Gdansk, Poland; Riga, Latvia; Visby, Sweden; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland and Tallinn, Estonia. Departures are scheduled for May 5 and 13; per-person rates start at $9,450.
- Land of the Ice Bears: An Exploration of Arctic Svalbard - An 11-day exploration of the remote archipelago 600 miles from the North Pole. Guests embark NG Endeavourin Longyearbyen and explore Svalbard for six days winding throughstunning fjords in search of seals, arctic foxes and polar bears. Departures are slated for July 16, 23 and 30 and August 6; per-person rates start at $5,890.
- Antarctica: A 15-day voyage featuring the incomparably beautiful peninsula and itssurrounding islands and waterways.NG Endeavour’s Zodiacs and kayaks provideideal vehicles to examine this remote wilderness of icebergs, penguins and whales.Departures are set for November 7, 18 and 29 and December 10 and 21; per-personrates start at $9,530.
