FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY, February 18, 2009 – Lindblad Expeditions (www.expeditions.com), the small ship cruise pioneer, is excited to announce that it will be placing its hallmark Galápagos voyage inside gift bags for the all the non-winning nominees in the five principal categories at the upcoming 81st Annual Academy Awards, which will take place on Sunday, February 22nd, 2009.

The Lindblad voyage to the Galápagos will be given as part of the “Everybody Wins at the Oscars®!” gift bag produced and distributed by Distinctive Assets. Each of the non-winning nominees in the categories of Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, as well as host Hugh Jackman, will receive the gift bag and, consequently, one of Lindblad’s Galápagos expeditions for 10 days/9 nights aboard the National Geographic Islander or the National Geographic Endeavour.

In 1967, Lindblad Travel took the first group of lay travelers to the Galápagos Islands. Since then, the Lindblad family has had a continual presence in the islands. And, today, with two ships - the National Geographic Endeavour and the National Geographic Islander - based in the archipelago full-time, Lindblad Expeditions has the strongest single brand presence in this region and has initiated programs to support conservation, education and community development resulting in more than $4.5 million dollars donated to the Galápagos National Park and the Charles Darwin Research Center.

Located 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands provide a natural habitat for some of the world’s most interesting and unusual animals. Only in Galápagos can travelers come face to face with wildlife that has never developed a fear of people. Travelers also have the opportunity to snorkel with playful sea lions, kneel beside marine iguanas and marvel at Galápagos penguins.

A Lindblad expedition in Galápagos features nimble Zodiacs and kayaks that take guests onto the volcanic shores and pristine beaches of the archipelago for up-close exploration. Lindblad Expeditions also has an undersea program which utilizes underwater video to bring seldom seen or heard worlds to life. Every expedition in Galápagos is led by a team of Naturalists (including an Underwater Specialist), a videographer, and Expedition Leader, providing a multitude of resources for a rich and unmatched understanding of the incredible wildlife and special environment that is known as the “Land of Darwin.”

Sven Lindblad, President and Founder of Lindblad Expeditions, is excited by Lindblad’s inclusion in the “Everyone Wins at the Oscars®!” bag. He remarked, “The opportunity to travel to Galápagos and experience its magic, beauty and spell are the chance of a lifetime – even for a Hollywood star. I am certain that the recipients of these gift bags will appreciate the occasion to discover, with Lindblad Expeditions, this amazing archipelago and all of its treasures”.

This particular Gift Bag has no affiliation with A.M.P.A.S. or the Academy Awards and is independently produced each year by Distinctive Assets.
