FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, NY, January 31, 2007 – Lindblad Expeditions (LEX) has been named a winner of the 2007 Seafood Champion Award in recognition of its outstanding leadership in promoting environmentally responsible seafood choices and advancing the marketplace for ocean-friendly seafood. LEX’s breakthrough Seafood for Thought program, and its partnerships with organizations dedicated to sustainability in purchasing policies and business operations, were instrumental in LEX’s selection by Seafood Choices Alliance, which annually bestows the coveted award.

The Seafood Champion Awards were created in 2006. Inaugural recipients included distinguished individuals and organizations including celebrity chefs Rick Moonen and Jacques Pepin, and Gourmet, the influential epicurean publication. This year’s awards were announced on Jan. 28 at Seafood Summit 2007 in Jacksonville, Fla. The formal presentation will take place on March 12, 2007 in conjunction with the Boston Seafood Show.

“It is an honor to receive this award. We care deeply about the seas we travel on and finding creative ways to improve our stewardship of the ocean is a never-ending challenge,” said Sven Olof Lindblad, LEX’s president and CEO. “We are privileged to have guests who also care and appreciate what we can collectively do to make a difference.”

“Seafood Champions represent the very best in leadership and vision,” said Mike Boots, Director of Seafood Choices Alliance. “Lindblad Expeditions’ investments today are helping ensure a diverse and abundant supply of seafood tomorrow.”

The Seafood Champion awards presentation will take place March 12 at the Boston Seafood Show. For more information, visit www.seafoodsummit.org.

Through Seafood for Thought, LEX carefully selects fish not only for flavor, but also for the best capture practices. LEX suppliers are asked where catches were made, and by what method. LEX strives to purchase and serve species not considered over-fished or caught through practices that cause serious environmental harm. LEX supports fisheries utilizing methods that cause minimal ecosystem damage. The result is flavorful, succulent seafood for LEX guests, and creative solutions to restore living abundance to Earth’s oceans.

LEX works in partnership with organizations dedicated to sustainability, including the Marine Stewardship Council (www.msc.org), the Blue Ocean Institute (www.blueocean.org) and the Chefs Collaborative (www.chefscollaborative.org), to provide tools to suggest appropriate seafood purchases at home and in restaurants.
