Silja Bara Omarsdottir

Dr. Silja Bára Ómarsdóttir is Professor of International Affairs at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Iceland. Trained in Iceland, Ireland, and the United States, her research addresses on Icelandic society and politics, reproductive rights, Iceland’s foreign and security policy and feminist international relations. Silja is active in Icelandic civil society, having served as the chair of Iceland‘s Gender Equality Council and on the Constitutional Council of 2011. She is currently vice chair of the board of the Icelandic Red Cross, and the Institute of International Affairs at the University of Iceland, and a member of the Icelandic chapter of the Nordic Women Mediator Network.

Silja is a Fulbright Arctic Initiative Fellow for 2021-2022.
