Ricky Robbins
Growing up in the diverse ecosystems of Florida, Ricky found a curiosity for the ways of the natural world at an early age. Helping save a manatee at the age of eleven and then going on a cruise to Alaska at fifteen, solidified his passion to figure out how to make wildlife his world. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida, where he realized where all this field could take him.
Ricky started his journey as a seasonal wildlife technician in the swamps of Florida working with red-cockaded woodpeckers and prescribed fire close to home but soon started branching out. He has now worked with threatened island foxes in the southern Channel Islands of California, spent multiple summers studying seabirds on a remote Alaskan island in the Bering Sea, and studied seabirds, monk seals, and green sea turtles on a remote atoll in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Ricky currently spends half of the year studying penguins, other seabirds, and aiding whale research on the Antarctic Peninsula at one of the United States Antarctic research stations.
Ricky spends his personal time not in remote places or at sea, traveling around in a converted truck bed camper in an effort to find the best places to explore and relax with a view. After all his time in remote settings, he is excited to be able to inspire, educate, and contribute as people create unforgettable memories.
