Pepe Rojas- Moscoso
Pepe Rojas is a Peruvian ornithologist, naturalist, and ecotourism specialist with over 30 years of experience across the Americas, including the Caribbean, Arctic, and Antarctic regions. With a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, he has spent his career connecting people with nature through birding expeditions and wildlife travel in some of the world's most remote and biodiverse places.
Pepe spent over a decade living in the Peruvian Amazon, studying macaws and parrot ecology while gaining deep knowledge of tropical ecosystems. He has also supported photographers and documentary filmmakers with field expertise and logistics. Known for his expert field skills, deep bird knowledge, and engaging guiding style, he has helped thousands of travelers experience rare wildlife up close, always with a focus on responsible travel and conservation.
Beyond guiding, Pepe has collaborated with organizations like Wildlife Conservation Society and The Field Museum of Chicago, contributing to bird monitoring, rapid biological inventories, and the creation of protected areas in Peru. His work also includes training local guides and developing sustainable tourism strategies. He regularly shares his expertise through talks and workshops on bird conservation, responsible tourism, and tropical ecology. He has contributed to scientific publications and appeared in nature documentaries, including the BBC's Birdman of the Amazon and a Discovery Channel series on Antarctic voyages.
