Matthew Drennan
Matt Drennan first travelled to Antarctica in 1988 and has returned almost every year since. In over 30 years of working on expedition ships, he has travelled to the Falklands, South Georgia, Antarctica, including the Ross Sea, throughout the Canadian Arctic, including 7 transits of the Northwest Passage, Sea of Okhotsk, Greenland, Svalbard, White Sea, Iceland, British Isles, and the islands of the mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Years of living with and studying seabirds on remote islands in New York and the coast of Maine instilled a fascination and awe of oceanic life. Being a research assistant studying Right whales in Peninsula Valdes, Argentina, and Glacier Bay, Alaska, broadened the saltwater obsession. Polar travels have stimulated a lifelong desire to absorb as much as possible about the history of exploration. Matt lives in Bar Harbor, Maine, his home for over 40 years.
