Koen Kleijn is an art historian, working as a journalist and a writer. He is currently editor-in-chief of Ons Amsterdam, a monthly devoted to the history of the Netherlands’ capital. He is the author (or co-author) of several books on history and culture in the Netherlands, among which Nederlandse Bouwkunst (Architecture in the Netherlands), Amsterdamse Grachtentuinen (Gardens of Amsterdam) (2005), and De Grachten van Amsterdam / The Canals of Amsterdam, (2013), describing 400 years of cultural history of the UNESCO World Heritage area.
Koen is the resident art critic of De Groene Amsterdammer. He has worked for several institutions in the Netherlands’ cultural sphere. He was editor of a magazine for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; a tutor at Design Academy Eindhoven and at Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam.
