Katya Uriupova
Katya Uriupova is a Senior Fellow at the Arctic Institute (Washington DC, USA). Passionate about the polar regions, Katya grew up in remote and cold Siberia. She received her PhD in Environmental Sciences from Moscow State University, Russia. She holds an MA in International Journalism from University of Salford in Manchester, UK. Having worked in the Arctic and Antarctic since 2000, Katya is involved in scientific projects focusing on the impact of climate change on the polar regions. Her areas of expertise revolve around biodiversity, climate change, oceans, polar regions, science and technology, and environmental policy.
Katya is a Council Member of APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists), PYRN (Permafrost Young Researchers Network), and PEI (Polar Educators International). Katya Uriupova has previously worked at the Antarctic Treaty Secretariat in Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC (USA), and the World Meteorological Organization (EU).
