John Lane

John Lane is one of eight children born to William and Evelyn Lane. He was born in Richland, WA and grew up in Tokyo, Japan and Los Gatos, CA. He is a former adjunct professor at California State University, Chico, and currently is a California Registered Professional Geologist and president of Chico Environmental Science & Planning.

John guides hiking trips in Yosemite National Park and is an avid backcountry skier, mountain biker, SCUBA diver and cave explorer. For the past 28 years He has led scientific exploratory expeditions with National Geographic in Borneo, Sumatra, and Papua New Guinea. The Borneo expeditions resulted in the creation of Gunung Buda National Park in Malaysia.

He lives in Chico, CA with his wife Anna and is the father of two grown children Molly Lane and Dylan Lane. He served eight years on the California State Mining and Geology Board and ten years on the Butte County Water Commission. He is also, the vice president of the Airmen’s Memorial Foundation United States. John has traveled extensively throughout North, Central, and South America, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Oceana.
