John Freedman
John Freedman is an avid world traveler and highly experienced lecturer who has explored more than 100 countries on seven continents. He is a graduate of Brown University and Yale Medical School. John has nurtured a lifelong interest in Asian history and culture and has traveled the region extensively from the icy Russian Far East to the tropical climes of the Java Sea. He has led numerous expeditions throughout Southeast Asia for National Geographic and other prestigious organizations, and is a sought-after speaker known for combining serious scholarship, an engaging presentation style, and rich photojournalistic documentation into a series of compelling talks.
When not exploring the nooks and crannies of Asia, John is a practicing physician in the Sonoma wine country in Santa Rosa, California, and runs Medical Exchange International, a non-profit charity dedicated to supporting health care professionals in the developing world. John looks forward to sharing his passion for the amazing history and deeply absorbing cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia with you aboard the Jahan.
