Jennifer Gil
Jennifer Gil-Acevedo is a phycologist from Puerto Rico, who is passionate about educating the public on the topic of algae. A National Geographic Explorer, Jennifer has spoken at conferences and workshops around the globe. She is currently conducting research on algae in Japan, France, the Netherlands and even at NASA.
Jennifer is a Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellow and a Smithsonian Latino Center Young Ambassador. She is also a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science Mass Media program during which time she worked at CNN en Español. Jennifer completed her master's degree in environmental science at Florida International University. She is pursuing her doctorate at the University of Puerto Rico, where she is studying the uses of microalgae for waste management.
