Iliana Ortega
A native of Mexico, Iliana attended high school in Tucson, Arizona as an exchange student of the Rotarian Club, and obtained her degree in biology at the Faculty of Science, at the National University of Mexico. Iliana has studied and collaborated on research in a coral reef program in the Caribbean, as well as being involved in Conservation Biology, working for National Parks and with Conservation NGO’s at the Biosphere Reserve in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Her main interests are in marine biology; fish, invertebrates and marine mammals. She is working in an environmental consultant agency named ICF Kaiser, Environmental Services, doing environmental impact assessments and audits. She has been a naturalist for Lindblad Expeditions since 1993 in Baja California and Alaska.
